Carrières de Lumières

This light show in the disused bauxite mines below the village of Les Baux was a delightful immersion into the art works of Van Gogh and Gauguin. Thoroughly recommended.

More temple than mine: the empty caverns of the disused bauxite mines near Les Baux
Inside they have been repurposed for visual arts, son et lumiere shows in a brilliant space
This show juxtaposed the life work of Van Gogh...
...with that of Gauguin, who lived and worked with him briefly at nearby Arles
The artwork becomes an immersive experience quite unlike a gallery
Each piece offers up its mood very clearly
The effect is a wonder
They successfully caught some of Van Gogh\'s troubled mind in the presentation
While I of course photographed it all
